RECOMMENDATION:

DESCRIPTION:

A touching family drama based on the bestselling novel by R.J. Palacio. The film tells the story of Auggie Pullman (Jacob Tremblay), a boy with a rare facial deformity who, after years of homeschooling, begins attending a public school. Despite undergoing many surgeries, Auggie looks different from his peers, which makes him the subject of curiosity, as well as mockery and unpleasant comments.

His parents, Isabel (Julia Roberts) and Nate (Owen Wilson), are full of concern about how their son will cope in the new environment, but they believe that school will give him a chance at a normal life. With the help of his family and friends, Auggie tries to find his place at school, gain acceptance, and overcome prejudice. The film follows not only his struggles, but also the perspectives of other characters, including his sister Via (Izabela Vidovic), who is also fighting for her parents’ attention, and Jack Will (Noah Jupe), a schoolmate who initially struggles with peer pressure.
