DESCRIPTION:

Six universal ROZZUM robots are lost from a cargo ship during a storm, and one of them — unit ROZZUM 7134 — ends up on a deserted island. After being accidentally activated, the robot tries to offer its services to the animals, but instead causes confusion and fear. After many failed attempts to connect with the island’s inhabitants, Roz decides to send a signal to her creators. Soon after, she is attacked by a bear, which leads to the destruction of a goose nest. Roz decides to save the only surviving egg, from which a gosling soon hatches.

LET’S TALK ABOUT:

What moved you the most in this film?

Roz (ROZZUM 7134) unexpectedly faces a huge challenge — raising an orphaned gosling, Brightbill. She is helped by, among others, Pinktail the opossum, experienced in motherhood, who emphasizes that there is no “program” for parenting — it’s pure improvisation. What do you think about that?

What kind of parent would you like to be?

What are you grateful to your parents for?

Tell a story about one of your happiest childhood moments.

Right after activation, Roz tries to offer her services to animals, but instead causes widespread fear — why do you think that happens?

Have you ever experienced being misunderstood?

Have you ever truly understood (or listened to) someone who at first seemed like they were from “another planet”?

Roz learns the language of animals and spends a lot of time on it — what does that inspire or encourage in you?

Are you persistent when working toward your goals?

On the island, Roz meets many animals — some of them play key roles in the story and have distinct traits. What do we learn about each of them?

Fox – Fink

Goose – Longneck

Opossum – Pinktail

Beaver – Paddler

Hawk – Thunderbolt

Which one do you feel closest to?

Brightbill is weaker than other geese and must go through an intense, accelerated flying course before autumn — along the way, he receives a lot of kindness and support from the island’s inhabitants. How do you respond to kindness from others?

How do you like to show kindness to others?

Teaching Brightbill to fly is the final task Roz takes on as his parent — once it’s complete, she decides her role in his life is over and that they must part ways. Tell a story about a meaningful goodbye you’ve experienced.

What do you miss?

After Brightbill leaves, Roz has an important conversation with Fink about how hard it can be to say the most important words — “I love you.”

How do you express love?

Is it easy for you to say “I love you”?

Who do you not say it to often enough?

What gestures or actions from others make you feel important to them?

What place does friendship have in your life?

Tell a story about a special moment you shared with a friend.

A harsh winter falls on the island — Roz shuts down, and Fink wakes her up to save the animals from freezing, acting against his image as a cunning predator. What do you think about the change Fink goes through — or maybe it wasn’t a change at all?

Do you tend to label people or put them into boxes?

Have you ever been labeled yourself?

When the animals gather under one roof, chaos erupts — instinct takes over reason. Do you sometimes make choices that go against what your reason tells you?

The ability to control emotions and instincts allows them not only to survive the winter but also to face future threats together — one of the film’s stronger messages. What do you think about it?

What other messages can you find in “The Wild Robot”?

Do they inspire you? In what way?

In the final scenes, something “impossible” from a scientific perspective seems to happen — the robot gains a soul/heart. Have you ever experienced something that felt humanly impossible?

In the end, Roz sacrifices herself — she leaves the island to ensure the safety of its inhabitants. What would you be willing to make a similar sacrifice for?

Tell a story about a moment when you sacrificed something important for others — or when someone sacrificed something for you.
