Andy Dufresne is sent to Shawshank prison for the murder of his wife and her lover – a crime he did not commit. However, years of incarceration are unable to break him – he never loses hope for justice. Through his kindness, he gradually earns the respect of his fellow inmates, especially “Red” Redding – the prison’s main dealer on the black market, who has been there for decades.
