The life odyssey of a straightforward and not particularly bright young man from Alabama who, by a strange twist of fate, becomes entangled in all the most important social and political events of his generation, from the Vietnam War to the Watergate scandal. He personally meets three U.S. presidents and becomes the inspiration for Elvis Presley’s dance moves. And that is merely a fragment of his colorful life story. Nominated for 13 Academy Awards – it won 6 statuettes: Best Picture, Best Actor (Tom Hanks), Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Visual Effects. 11th place in the IMDb ranking, 6th place on the Filmweb list.
