RECOMMENDATION:

DESCRIPTION:

“Camouflage” (Barwy ochronne) is one of the key films of the Cinema of Moral Anxiety movement, addressing themes of conformism, ethics, and the mechanisms of power. The story takes place during a summer linguistics camp organized for young researchers and students. Against the backdrop of intellectual rivalry between participants of a scientific competition, a clash between two life attitudes – idealistic and pragmatic – occurs.

The main protagonist is Jarosław Kruszyński (Piotr Garlicki), a young assistant full of faith in ideals, honesty, and academic integrity. During the camp, he encounters the cynical and calculating Associate Professor Jakub Szelestowski (Zbigniew Zapasiewicz), who represents experienced academics aware of the system’s realities, employing various survival and manipulation strategies.
